Four groups of members met  for  our first social six of 2026.  A chance for members to get to know each other better over a coffee

In February we learnt the art of willow weaving with Martin from Rutland Willows, making a fish and a dragonfly

In February twelve of us travelled to Leicester to visit the Jewry Wall museum, a fascinating museum with a very good cafe! In March we held a sea-glass craft session, with our main event being the popular fund-raising fashion show with members selling tickets, serving drinks and modelling the clothes.

Thirteen members took part in our annual amble to see the bluebells in Barsdale Woods. We were lucky to have a warm sunny day and the carpet of bluebells was beautiful.  Two additional members joined us for coffee and a chat.  A lovely sociable morning.

June had extremes of weather, with a walk and visit to Nevill Holt open garden cancelled due to heavy rain.  It did, however, stay dry for our visit to the Lyndon Visitor Centre, where Sian told us about the nesting ospreys.

The weather then changed to extreme heat but we enjoyed the cool of Peterborough Cathedral for the visit to the longest yarn 2, which was every bit as good as the first longest yarn exhibition.

In July our quiz team was again successful, winning the local heat of the Leicestershire and Rutland Federation quiz.

In July seven members enjoyed a walk under the Harringworth viaduct whilst 25 enjoyed a social six.  Seventeen members visited White Goose Flower Farm where they learned about sustainable farming as well as having refreshments and picking flowers; a lovely afternoon.
